What better way to introduce microbiology to those who have little to no experience or knowledge, than with fluffy toys and own experiences!
We have a whole range of Giant Microbes that we use to demonstrate the variety of shapes, sizes and types of different microbes.
From bacteria, to fungi, to viruses; human-found, environment-found, and anywhere and everywhere in between!
We use these plush toys to talk about the roles of disease-causing microbes, beneficial bugs that are used in our every day lives, and the characteristics that they all possess.
The advantage of using these soft toys is that the participants can get up close and personal with them, having a look at the shapes and characteristics they have. This couples nicely with the ‘Infected blood pit’ in the Healthcare and Diagnostics activity where participants link bugs with infections and treatments.
